The short version. Axon is a personal local-first app. All of your entries stay in your browser. The only way any of them leave is in a file you choose to export or an analysis bundle you choose to copy, download, paste, or upload somewhere else. Axon has no accounts, no app server, and no analytics — there is nothing for the Axon Project to collect from the app, because your app data never reaches us.

1. Where your data lives

Axon is a static web app that runs entirely in your browser. Everything you enter — onboarding responses, sessions, the compounds and doses you log, subjective ratings, test scores, notes, and any reports — is stored locally in your browser’s storage (IndexedDB) for that browser profile. It is not sent anywhere by Axon. There is no server database and no Axon-operated app server that receives it.

Because the data lives in your browser, clearing your browser’s site data — or using a different browser, device, or private window — means Axon will not see the same data. There is no sync and no cloud copy.

2. No accounts, no servers, no analytics

  • No accounts. Axon does not ask you to sign up or sign in. There is no email, password, or profile held by anyone but you.
  • No app server. The app is served as static files. A static host may deliver those files to your browser, but the app does not call an Axon backend after it loads and has no Axon backend to call.
  • No analytics or tracking. There are no analytics, telemetry, advertising, cross-site trackers, or third-party cookies. The app uses only the local storage it needs to function.
  • No data egress. The only network requests the app makes for app content are same-origin reads of its own static reference catalogs (the compound, instrument, and platform lists). No personal data is included in those requests.

3. The only ways data leaves your device

Your data leaves your device only when you make it leave, in one of two ways:

  • Files you export. In Settings → Privacy & data you can export a full copy of your data as a JSON file (optionally encrypted with a passphrase). That file goes wherever you save or send it — that is your choice, and your responsibility from that point on.
  • The “Analyze with AI” bundle. This feature generates Markdown from your identifier-masked, derived statistics. Axon does not transmit it anywhere. If you copy, download, paste, or upload that file into an AI model — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, a local model, or anything else — your data goes only where you put it, and is then subject to that tool or service’s privacy terms, not Axon’s.

External cognitive-test platforms that Axon links to are independent third parties. When you open one, you interact with it directly under its own privacy policy; Axon is not involved in that exchange and receives nothing back from it except the scores you choose to type into Axon.

4. DNA files stay on your device

The optional Genetics feature reads a raw DNA export (23andMe, AncestryDNA, Living DNA, or a VCF) entirely in your browser, using the local File API. Your genome is never uploaded, transmitted, or stored by Axon. Only a small, fixed set of curated variants is matched; everything else in the file is discarded as it is read, and nothing is written to your local database — so the file is not retained between visits and you re-select it each time you use the feature. Because none of your genetic data ever leaves the tab, there is nothing about your DNA for the Axon Project, or anyone else, to receive. What you do with the DNA file itself, and where you keep it, remains your responsibility.

5. Deleting your data

You are always in control. Settings → Privacy & data lets you permanently erase everything Axon has stored in your browser. Clearing your browser’s site data for Axon does the same thing. Because nothing is stored anywhere else, that is a complete deletion.

6. Children

Axon is intended for adults (18+). It collects nothing centrally, so there is no central record of anyone — but please do not use it on behalf of a minor.

7. Changes

If the app’s data handling ever changes, this page will change with it and carry a new effective date. The project’s commitment is for Axon to remain local-first: no accounts, no app server, no analytics.
